The Adelphi Cinema

, 25cm X 25cm

The old Adelphi cinema, built in the 1920?s, still stands in Attercliffe. A wonderful example of the architecture of the period, now closed and somewhat forlorn with Budliea sprouting from the roof (how does it get up there?).

While painting this picture passers by came and expained the history of the building and the area. The building to the left was the first headquarters of Burtons tailors and it?s current owner, David, kindly supplied me with tea. All in a day?s work.
